This is the artistic background of the stage that I prepared in May 2020 on a rooftop in Barcelona, for a recording of a music video by a world-renowned singer-songwriter.
Curiously, in the same building, the famous artist Pablo Picasso had his residence until 1896 and, from the same roof, he painted several pictures of the landscapes he observed, such as the views of the port and the dome of the Basílica de la Mercè. Some of these paintings are part of the Picasso Museum collection.
Picasso also painted the drinking water tanks that he saw in the neighboring building. This is the view of one of the tanks located in the rooftop of the front building Els Porxos d’en Xifré, which we can also see to the right of the first photograph of this portfolio:
And this is how Picasso painted it at the age of 13:
Azotea de las Cases d’En Xifré. Painting on panel. 04.10.1895. Oil on wood 10 x 15,4 cm. Picasso Museum Collection.
